Killdozer & Ritual Device - Split Single

As a sort of a sequel to the previous post, and as a great virtual bonus-single to this compilation, here's a beautiful 10" record that came out on Man's Ruin in 1995, and features Led Zeppelin covers as performed by Killdozer and Ritual Device. Both full-length songs are amazing; Killdozer's track even features harmonica solos, which is surely not common on a Killdozer recording. Right now I can't remember whether it's a first for them, or there might have been some way back on their "experimental" record, "Snakeboy" (still my favourite). As for the short "Hotdog", it was a throwaway tune to begin with, but hey, we can't all be Nine Pound Hammer.

Various - Sides 1-14

This is a series of 7" singles with AC/DC covers and songs "inspired by" AC/DC, performed by artists such as Shellac, Killdozer, Mule, and other great bands. I have never seen the actual singles, but the pictures found on the Internet show that they are probably beautiful - they are way too expensive for me to ever own them, too, so here's an MP3 compilation of all the songs, featuring the driest production sound ever heard on a Shellac recording (which is saying quite a lot), beautiful acoustic-ballad reconstructions of AC/DC by Mule and Will Oldham (here under the moniker Palace Contribution), and a great song title in Denison/Kimball Trio's "Back in Blanc" (also one of their more listenable recordings, in my opinion - I was never able to get into them, although Duane Denison is without a doubt my favourite guitar player). A nice listen.

Touch & Go 25th Anniversary Shows

Big Black, of course.

The world's best record label, Touch & Go Records, held a 25th anniversary festival some five years ago, which featured some great, great bands, some of which hadn't played for ages before, and haven't played again ever since (Scratch Acid, Big Black).
